PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES & SHOW PROGRESS HIGHLIGHT BCB’S FALL SCHEDULE

BCB continues to make progress and we “march” through our Fall rehearsal schedule.  We have about half of our drill for “Birdland” on the floor, adding sets each rehearsal, and are working with a few holes in the horn line because of marching band commitments for football and contest season, but are looking forward to seeing everyone back in the line as soon as “Bandtober” and high school/college football season start to wind down.

Recent rehearsals have been held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Spring Branch, as we are unable to use the gym at Spring Baptist Church because of school commitments on campus.  We are still working out where we will be for November rehearsals. We anticipate being at Holy Cross for our December 12 rehearsal. Stay tuned to the “Schedule” section of the Website for updates and changes to our rehearsal schedule. We hope to be back “home” at SBC after the first of the year to put the finishing touches on the TCGC show as competition season get under way.  We are also awaiting invitations from the Galveston Mardi Gras to once again appear in the various parades we have participated in past years.

For October and November, we also have standstill performances scheduled for the Corps.  We will be performing at the opening of the Alzheimer’s Walk in The Woodlands on October 18, playing the National Anthem and several selections as the Walk gets underway and during the event.  On November 15, BCB will perform at the Annual Fall Festival in Magnolia at Unity Park, where we will also be honoring our Veteran’s in a Veteran’s Day tribute.  We will have an information table set up at the Fall Festival where people can find out more about BCB, and opportunities to join the Corps.  Our schedule remains open in December pending any seasonal bookings for Christmas.  Come on out and support BCB at these great events!

We still have a few spots open for anyone looking to scratch that “itch” and get back to performing in the Marching Arts. If you are interested in membership information, please go to the “Join BCB”  “Contact BCB” sections here on the Website.

The 35th Anniversary Season Begins!

Much has gone on at BCB since we concluded our 2025 competition season in TCGC Indoor Winds! 2026 is our 35th Anniversary year of entertaining audiences throughout the Houston and Southeast Texas, and the administrative/instructional staff has been working hard behind the scenes and meeting on Zoom to prepare the launch of our anniversary season.

It doesn’t seem that long ago when a group of hardcore “Drum Corps Nuts” got together and decided to form what was then called the first “Senior” drum & bugle corps in Houston, Texas.  With a lot of hard work and determination, we became a regular favorite at the Houston DCI show and our All-Star Drum & Bugle Corps appearances at the Galveston Mardi Gras attracted our drum corps friends from across the U.S. and Canada. Moving into the 21st century with Gulf Coast Sound as an offshoot of BCB to compete in regional DCA South and National DCA competitions, then back to BCB in 2016 to the present, where we have entertained at both DCI SoundSport and TCGC Indoor Winds events.  Through it all, we have maintained the spirit that drum corps is first and foremost FUN! Fun for the members and fun for the audience.

On June 13, 2025, BCB opened up our 35th year with the first rehearsal, held at our long-time rehearsal site at Spring Baptist Church in Spring, TX.  Our show this year, titled “Time Flies” features the music of “Birdland” and “Freebird” which offers challenges and excitement to our members.  Attendance numbers added to the excitement of the evening with 19 horns, set drummer and 4 guard gathering to kick things off and we knowingly had many absences due to work and family commitments that evening.  Recruiting efforts are still underway to make this year our best yet!

Spots are still open in ALL sections as we kick of this exciting 35th Anniversary year! All age groups, all talent levels are welcome, and we encourage families to join together. We have and many families participate together over the years, and that tradition continues today. For information on becoming a member of BCB, please see the "Join BCB” tab on the webpage

Post 2025 Season  Update

BCB has reached the end of a successful first season back on the competition floor at Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) with a “First Place” finish in our division.  We rounded off our season with our annual “Friends & Family” performance on April 12 at Spring Baptist Church, where we showcased our TCGC show “Uno Mas…” for a final time along with a standstill performance of our Mardi Gras music.  Following the performance, the Corps and guests were treated to a BBQ lunch where year-end awards were handed out for the exceptional members of the Corps, as well as a few humorous awards.

No sooner had we concluded our 2025 year when on Sunday, April 13 (the next day), many members of the Corps participated on a Zoom call with Corps Manager Chris Parmeter and members of the administrative and instructional staff to begin developing the structure of the 2026/35th Anniversary Season for BCB. Among the topics discussed were development of the administrative and instructional structure for the coming year, progress on show development, rehearsal scheduling for the coming year, and recruiting and marketing of BCB over the next several months.

We hope to provide a tentative rehearsal schedule in this space in the very near future, as well as new information on the webpage on membership, auditions and inviting our incredible veteran performers from years past to join us for our historic 35th Year!  Stay tuned to this page for details in the coming weeks, as well as on our Social Media platforms; Facebook, Instagram and X.

Likewise, if you do not wish to perform, but are passionate about the drum corps/Marching Arts activity and would like to contribute your time and talents to help BCB move into the future, please contact us at Director @ BayouCityBlues . com for more information.
